Spring Break: Days 3 & 4

Wednesday afternoon, Mike & I, along with our realtors/friends Nicki & Bobby, headed down to Lexington, KY to cheer on our high school boys basketball team in the state tournament! We had a lot of fun even though the boys did not win.

We ate at a delicious restaurant after the game, DeSha's, & enjoyed good food & great company!

Thursday morning I headed over to my younger sister, Pamela's house to watch my niece Isabella for the morning.

That afternoon we were expecting some nasty weather. Before it hit I wanted to snap a picture of my patio peach tree, since I was afraid the blooms were going to get blown off!

Toby loves storms and I was able to sneak up on him & snap a few adorable pics!

Later that evening Elyse hosted girls night at her house! I am very lucky that Elyse's friends let me come to their girls nights! It is always so much fun & the conversation & company is great! All the girls are so funny and sweet & getting to have a gab fest with a bunch of girls is always so refreshing!

The adorable babies!!

Spring break has been amazing so far & I don't want it to end!!

Spring Break: Day 2 A Fun Filled Day at the ZOO!

Day two of spring break started off early for me! I woke up at 7 am and went on a cleaning spree! I tackled the dishes, laundry and cleaned the bathrooms then headed to the grocery store to stock up for the week! Shew!! Then came the fun part of the day...

Today Elyse, Alexander, Pammy, Isabella and I all went to the zoo to enjoy this gorgeous day! Both of my sisters have zoo passes so I got to go for free!!! Today was the perfect day to go, since it was not too hot.

Bubby was ready to go!!

Beautiful Bellie

I have the cutest niece & nephew in the world!!

Bubby was saying "Hi pigs!"
.. but they were really wort hogs!

Then we headed to my FAVORITE!!!! GIRAFFES!!!!

Beautiful girls!!!

Next we saw the elephants

Bubby loved to wave "hi" to all of the animals!

We packed a picnic & enjoyed lunch, then continued to walk throughout the rest of the zoo!
We all enjoyed the adorable meerkats!

But the best part of the day was getting to see the momma grizzly bear & her cubs playing in the water! It was adorable!!

We also got to see the new polar bear cub, Snowflake!

By the end of the walk around the zoo every one was exhausted! Especially Bella!

I had a wonderful time & LOVED spending the day with some of the most important people in my life!!

Spring Break: Day 1

My first day of Spring Break was GREAT!! I always love being able to get off of the third shift schedule & live life like a "normal" person! I got to sleep in today until 10 o'clock & had a lunch date scheduled with my Daddy, Elyse & Alexander to celebrate Daddy's 47th Birthday. We were a little late on the celebration, but with everyone's busy schedule this week was the first chance we had!

Of course Daddy got to pick the location of his birthday lunch, and he chose Zoe's Kitchen! Elyse & I had never been there, but Dad insisted it was AMAZING, and he was right!!

The menu was full of healthy, fresh options. I decided on the grilled chicken pita with slaw & a fresh (I mean really fresh- no soggy fruit at all) fruit cup! DELICIOUS!

After lunch we headed across the street to visit my step-mom Rhonda at the dental office she works at. Since her office is next to a Feeders Supply we walked over to see the dogs & cats from the Kentucky Humane Society. Of course I feel in love with one, and can't get her off my mind....
Look at that sweet face!!

After lunch and visiting with Rhonda we headed home. I was so happy that Mike was up when I got home (he works the dreaded third shift as well). It's rare that we are ever on the same schedule, but since I am on break this week I got to tag along to the gym with him!

Today we worked shoulders, traps & abs. Our workout consisted of:
Smith machine shoulder press (3 sets of 15, 12, 10)
Standing shoulder press (1 set to failure)
Lateral Shoulder raises (3 sets of 15, 12, 10, hold the last rep for 30 seconds, start a new set to failure)
Rear Delt flys (4 sets of 15, 12, 10, 10)
Upright rows with close grip (3 sets of 15, 12, 10)
Leg raises (3 sets of 20)
Decline crunches (3 sets of 25)

I finished my strength training with a quick 2 mile HITT (High Intensity Interval Training) run. My first mile consisted of 1 minute light run (6.5 mph) with 30 seconds of high intensity (10.5 mph). I completed my first mile in 7:35. I am very competitive with myself, so for my second mile I wanted to beat my first mile time. The second mile consisted of 1 minute light/moderate run (7.0 mph) with 30 seconds of high intensity (11.0 mph). I completed my second run in 7:14. My competitive mind was happy, and my legs were dead! :)

This is why I love HITT training:

After a great workout we came home & made dinner which consisted of grilled chicken breast, oven baked sweet potatoes and roasted asparagus! YUM!! I have filled up the rest of my evening cleaning out my DVR:

I have had a great 1st day of Spring Break! Too bad I can't live this live everyday of the year!

TRUTH.

So... I must admit that I am slightly obsessed with our wedding photographer, Lang Thomas (you can find his AMAZING blog here).

He posted this status tonight on Facebook:

Lang Thomas Leichhardt
All girls love the following things: Panara Bread, Target, John Mayer, Dresses with pockets, farmers markets, and sweet potato fries.

How true is this?! I thought it was too cute not to share! One more reason I am head over heals in love with this guy!

And now for your viewing pleasure, pictures by Lang himself! Enjoy!

In other news...
This week I am on SPRING BREAK!!! And to make Spring Break even SWEETER I am off of work alllllllllllll week long!! I am just a little bit excited!!

Alexander's Birthday Party

This evening was Alexander's 2nd Birthday Party! Bubby had a Cho-cho themed party, since his favorite character right now is Thomas the train (followed closely by Elmo)! Tons of people gathered to celebrate this cute little man turning 2! He is very loved & the party went great! Here are some pictures recapping the celebration!
